Aaditya claims BMC auctioning 3 land parcels to raise funds

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Thursday alleged that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to auction three land parcels to raise funds and make up for the “loot” of Mumbai by the Eknath Shinde government.

In a post on X, Aaditya Thackeray claimed that the Mumbai civic body has decided to auction the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Mandi (Market), the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) Malabar Hill Receiving Station and the Worli Asphalt Plant.

“The sale of Mumbai is being done by the Eknath Shinde regime to benefit its favourite builders and contractors,” he wrote in the post.

“So on one end, they looted the BMC and Mumbai, gave the money to their favourite contractors, and now by auctioning these iconic and important land parcels, the BMC will be left without funds and plots both, Aaditya wrote on X.

Alleging that the Eknath Shinde government in Maharashtra wants to drive Kolis and fisherfolk out of Mumbai, Aaditya Thackeray said, “We will oppose this. It has to remain and be made into a fish market, and (should be) in the ownership of the BMC.”

Meanwhile, addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Aaditya Thackeray took dig at Maharashtra Chief Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar for presenting their government`s report card.

Aaditya Thackeray alleged, “Businesses and jobs have been deported from the state under the Mahayuti government.”

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government will scrap incentives above and beyond the tender of the multi-billion dollar Dharavi Redevelopment project, he said.

The Adani Group, which is executing the Dharavi Redevelopment project, is being given 1,080 acres of Mumbai land, Aaditya Thackeray claimed.

He alleged that in the guise of announcing several sops in the last few cabinets ahead of the polls, the government took decisions to benefit the Adani Group.

Reacting to his statements, Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar on Thursday challenged Aaditya Thackeray for a debate on the Dharavi Redevelopment Project and said that the latter has become the “spokesperson for the urban naxals.”

“Aaditya Thackeray seems to have become the spokesperson of urban Naxals. Without studying the subject (Dharavi) in detail, Aaditya Thackeray is speaking like an ignorant. I have seen that these people have been trying to set a narrative regarding Dharavi and the redevelopment work,” Ashish Shelar said, according to the ANI.
